Scar Tattooing

I started tattooing over small childhood scars and minor surgical scarring back in 2013. It really sparked a passion in me seeing the different brand of joy that it brought to my clients. I started doing a lot of those kind of tattoos until I felt comfortable with my abilities to work with all sorts of scarring and skin textures.

In 2014 I did my first of several Mastectomy-scar tattooing events with the ‘P.ink’ organization. Once I had worked with them, they added me to their webpage to connect me with other survivors looking for tattooing services.

Since then, I have worked with a ton of absolutely amazing, resilient women. As every one’s experience differed, so did their type of scarring. Every scar I’ve tattooed has been so different from the last, creating a unique challenge and learning experience.

I’ve learned so much over the years of doing this work. It is truly important work that requires a lot of creativity and patience.

FAQ

“When will I be ready to get a tattoo over my scar(s) ?”

Every persons healing time line is different. In my experience, the earliest for a good result is 8 mo- 1yr post op.

“What do I need to have in order to make an appointment to get started?”

I require at least that 8 months post op for any scarring.

With cancer survivors (or clients with any other life threatening illness that caused the scarring) I also request a doctors approval to proceed.

Finally, an in-person consultation (or via phone if you’re traveling) would be necessary to get a clear vision for your tattoo idea and iron out any details, expectations etc.

“How do I best prepare for my first appointment?”

I aim to make the tattoo experience with me as comfortable as possible for all of my clients. I will go over all procedures and aftercare instructions during our consultation as well as at the appointment.

As the client, all you need to focus on is: keeping well hydrated especially in the days before and day of your appointment and eating a hearty balanced meal before the appointment begins. Additionally, bring any comfort items your may want with you i.e extra blankets, favorite book or music
